Letter from Patrick Basavilbaso in Cheshire, Conn. to Elihu Harrison in Litchfield South Farms informing Harrison that he has arrived in Cheshire to attend Episcopal Academy run by Mr. Brownson, minister; has written Mr. Woodruff twice from New Haven but had no reply; expects to visit South Farms; asks for explanation of account given by Woodruff to Mr. B. DeForest; would like to buy some shoes made by Mr. Munson of Litchfield, but will not send money by mail.

Lynch in New Haven to Elihu Harrison writing that he is about to go home to Buenos Ayres; will entertain friends recommended by Harrison; letters should be sent to him addressed care of Lynch, Zimmerman & Co.; is glad there are men in the U.S. who are able to support its rights; plans to leave the country about 20 October and may be reached before then care of D.L. DeForest, New Haven.

Lynch writing that he has received Lynch's letter via Mr. Basavilbaso and has mixed sensations or regret & pleasure that Lynch is departing; it is unlikely that he will ever need services of [Lynch, Zimmerman & Co.] mercantile house in Buenos Aires; hopes Lynch's country will have a republican government, but he will always have a home in U.S.

Letter from B.Stoddard, Jr. in New York to Elihu Harrison in South Farms asking Harrison to forward the letter to his father immediately or he fears that Bradley will not get home before he leaves on a passage south. Also Capt. Kellogg requestd a line from Harrison regarding Bradley Bishop's character and habits.

Scope and Contents From the Collection: The papers of Elihu Harrison (1797-1855) consist primarily of his business papers including bills, accounts, receipts, and orders. Elihu Harrison was a storekeeper and business man in Litchfield, first in the South Farms section (now the town of Morris) and later, about 1825, in the center of Litchfield. From the goods he purchased from wholesale merchants in New Haven and New York, it is evident that he ran a general store, selling a variety of dry goods, hardware, and groceries. The...
