Series 5 consists of the papers of Benjamin Tallmadge's son, Frederick Augustus Tallmadge. Many of the letters concern Frederick Tallmadge's publication of his father's memoirs. Others record, and express appreciation for, Tallmadge's public service in New York and in Congress.

The first subseries, Tallmadge's correspondence, is arranged alphabetically by correspondent. The second subseries, Tallmadge's miscellaneous papers, are arranged in chronological order.

Discusses Colonel Elisha Sheldon's contract with Mr. Estey of Massachusetts to purchase leather breeches for the regiment; asks whether dragoons whose families suffer by means of their absence may be dismissed from service; and reports on the condition of the troops and laments their lack of supplies and cash.

The Mary Floyd Tallmadge cookbook collection (1940-39-0) is a cookbook and typed transcription. There are various everyday recipes in the book, such as bread, rice, quaking puddings, sillabub, and cakes. One of note is a recipe for "General Washington's Black Ball;" a recipe for the blacking of George Washington’s boots. The cookbook was created by Mary Floyd Tallmadge, first wife of Benjamin Tallmadge. Currently stored in 3A box 17.
