The Jane Amelia Benton school book (2011-90-0) was kept in 1855. The book contains notes on history lessons that Jane received while attending school in Litchfield in 1855. Her sister Phebe attended school with her at the same time. The book also contains the name of the other pupils in her class. It also identifies the teacher as S.H. Vaill.

Her sister Jane attended school at the same time. The notebook also contains a list of pupils in her class, and identifies the teacher as S.H. Vaill.

Abstract

The Clarence H. Elliott collection documents Elliott's association with Litchfield High School from 1916 through 1927 as teacher, assistant principal, principal, and athletic coach. There are also items which relate to Litchfield in general and Antrim, N.H., where Elliott lived for a time prior to coming to Litchfield. The collection consists of photographs, scrapbooks, ephemera, and news clippings.

Scope and Contents The Litchfield 2nd School District minute book (1983-08-0) contains meeting minutes for the years 1858 through 1879. The minutes in the volume record the activities of the annual meeting for each year. Topics such as repairing the school house and hiring a female teacher are seen early on in the book.
