Scope and Contents Folder contains two 6" x 8" mounted, and one unmounted photo of Mrs. Nathaniel Rochester Child, (Elizabeth Stone Prince), and one copy unmounted. Both photos are taken in her home on North Street, locally known as the Daniel Sheldon house. One is taken in the parlor with her seated next to a piano. In the other photo she is seated at her desk in the upper-front hall. A description included on the back of the photo makes note of a preserved section of an original hand-stencilled decoration...

A label attached to the photograph mount states: "Arch erected on East Street to welcome teh regiment enlisted in Litchfield as the 19th Connecticut, which returned as the 2nd Connecticut Heavy Artillery, August 1st, 1865"

Scope and Contents

Photograph by W.H. Sanford of the 1884 house built by William Deming and later owned by his daughters  Charlotte and Adelaide Deming. The house stood where the parking lot for the bank is located and was moved behind Rose Haven, #31 North Street, when the parking lot was built in 1965. The house was torn down in 2009. Caption on the photograph indicates that it was taken "...while being painted (waiting for second coat) without blinds or curtains."
