Lincoln, Jeanie Gould, 1880
Scope and Contents
Folder includes two photos of Mrs. Jeanie Gould Lincoln. Glued onto the back of one photo is a newspaper clipping about her daughters christening, also the day of their fifth anniversary. Flowers and gifts were sent such as silver and carved wooden ornaments. A brief description of the ladies costumes, mostly velvet, lace, silk and satin draped with tulle. Among the guests were General Sherman, ex-Sectary and Mrs. Blaine, Mr. and Mrs. Dr. Johnson. The article also mentions the serving of caudle, a traditional beverage for christening fĂȘtes.
