Scope and Contents

Requests Wolcott send a copy of an execution in his name against Nathaniel Brace of Harwinton. Reports his health has better than last winter but that he is scarcely able to attend sessions and to write to his wife weekly; requests Wolcott's opinion on the Freeman's meeting in April and whether he must be in Litchfield to vote; requests opinion on political matters and election; states that his only letters from the state have been from his wife who, while correct in sentiment, is limited in party knowledge. Notes that they are in the dark about events in Europe; await word of Napoleon's movements; states that the Democrats "really seem to me to be cursed of God with a loss of what little understanding the poor devils ever had." Refers to Jefferson as "Tom the ram cat" and concludes that they must wait for details.
