A writ issued by William Pelham, Clerk of the Court, for the punishment of John Thomas, a transient in the Litchfield Jail. He was convicted of burning 2 houses and a mill in Sharon, Conn. The sentence to be carried out by the County Sheriff, is for Thomas to be set upon the gallows with a rope around his neck for one hour, and then to be whipped on his naked body. Lynde Lord, Sheriff, attested on the back of the writ that the punishment had been carried out.
